Smash Burger Tacos
30 min · Serves 4 · 11 ingredients
A smash burger and a taco in one crispy, saucy handful. The lacy edges are the whole point.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 8 small flour tortillas
- 8 slices American cheese
- 2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce
- 1/2 white onion, finely diced
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp finely chopped pickles
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
METHOD
- Stir together the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickles, and garlic powder to make the burger sauce; set aside.
- Divide the beef into 8 loose balls and season with salt and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over high heat. Press one ball of beef onto each tortilla in a thin, even layer right to the edges.
- Place beef-side down and smash flat with a spatula. Cook 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy and lacy.
- Flip, top with a slice of cheese, and cook 1 minute more until melted and the tortilla is golden.
- Top with lettuce, diced onion, and a generous drizzle of burger sauce. Fold and eat immediately.
